Volunteering and Training with HWDT
No background knowledge of cetaceans is required, we ask only for you to be enthusiastic and willing to learn about the marine mammals and their environment. HWDT undertake a variety of educational and reseatch projects, and also organise and attend a number of marine based events throughout the year. Volunteering with the Trust gives an insight into the workings of a busy charity and provides valuable experience in a wide range of areas; including scientific data collection, creation of educational resources, helping with beach cleans, running workshops and much more. A career in marine conservation is highly competitive and volunteer work is extremely beneficial when furthering a career in the field. Volunteering with our dynamic team of marine conservationists is an enjoyable way to acquire this experience. Please note that we do not offer long-term research volunteering for those without experience. Even if marine conservation is not your chosen career, we welcome volunteers with, or looking for, experience in other areas such as environmental education, marketing, computer skills, and all other aspects of running a small charity.
